Matthew 13:45
“Again, the reign of the heavens is like
a man, a merchant, seeking fine pearls,
46who, when he had found one pearl of
great price, went and sold all that he had
and bought it.
Pearls have been a highly coveted treasure in this world. Real pearls found in the wild, that have not been staged by man, are about 1 in 10,000. Gem-quality pearls are even more rare.
Pearls are sought after because of how rare they are and because of their beauty. They take a lot of time to form, and with great difficulty.
In the Parable of The Pearl of Great Value, we see a comparison of the Kingdom of Heaven with a very rare and beautiful pearl. Yeshua is showing us that the Kingdom has great value, great beauty, and is worth more than all you own.
Yeshua said the Kingdom of Heaven comes from within. So if there is even a speck that could grow into a rare and beautiful pearl within, what do we need to do? Sell EVERYTHING we have. Sell, meaning let go of all that you have your hands grasping onto as though it is going to fall into a fiery pit, and instead, let that go and grasp onto that pearl that is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Then Yeshua shows us that the Kingdom that is within is going to undergo difficulty to form into a pearl. For the pearl to form, a foreign object enters the mollusk, and it begins to cover the foreign substance, layer upon layer. The Mollusk requires a clean environment to thrive and create this pearl. In relation if you are looking to cultivating a pearl within you, your environment, according to Yeshua, will need to be clean. Are you surrounded by sin? Are you watching wicked people do wicked things? Are you watching porn? Are you partying? Are you gossiping? Are you smoking or drinking? Are you lying? etc…
In addition to the difficulty, the pearl needs a lot of time to form. This shows us that Yeshua is sharing that the Kingdom of Heaven may take time to form within you. How long are you willing to wait for that beautiful and rare pearl? No instant gratification, no drive-through salvation. Take the time to enjoy the forming of the pearl and watch the Kingdom grow within.
Here on earth, the Kingdom is a mindset, it is a Way, and the way is Yeshua! Follow Him!
